Family Distraught After Speaking With Investigators

"LONG BEACH, CA — Homicide detectives were investigating a reported murder/suicide Thursday evening at 59th Street and Rose Avenue in North Long Beach.

"Investigators at the scene said they received a call around 3:30 alerting them to an incident in the 5800 block of Rose Avenue. Initial reports suggested that a murder/suicide had occurred.

"Jerry Robinson, a neighbor of one of the dead people, said, `He shot her, and then he shot himself,` adding that the two involved were a couple. `Nobody deserves this,` he added.

"Robinson said he had known the victim, whom he identified as a woman named Christy, since she was 14.

"Three people arrived who neighbors identified family of the couple and were visibly distaught after speaking with investigators.

"The identities of the couple have not been released."
