Police Find Husband, Wife Shot Dead
"MICHIGAN CITY, IN — A house on the west side of Michigan City was the scene of a murder/suicide involving a husband and wife Sunday morning, police say.
"At 10:44 a.m., a 911 call was received requesting emergency personnel be dispatched to 913 Cooper St. Upon arrival, officers from the Michigan City Police Department discovered the bodies of Raymond Anthony Richardson, 63, and Carrie Richardson, 61.
"MCPD Chief Mark Swistek said the 911 call came from the husband. Once officers arrived, they discovered both had been shot to death. A handgun was recovered at the scene.
"According to MCPD, `evidence at the scene indicated that this was a murder/suicide and no one else was at home at the time of the incident.`
"La Porte County EMS, Deputy Coroner Mark Huffman and Chief Deputy Prosecutor Robert Neary all assisted at the scene. The first personnel on the scene from MCPD were Detective Corporal Al Bush, Corporal Jeff Piotrowski, Corporal Michael Elkins, Officer Nick Krause and Officer Andrew Paull."
