Who Shot Who?

"Harrisonburg, VA - The shooting last week on Old Furnace Road appears to be an attempted murder-suicide, according to an affidavit used to get multiple search warrants issued in the case. The shooting claimed the life of one man and seriously injured another.

"In the early morning hours of Dec. 11, Harrisonburg police officers responded to a shooting call at 1056 Old Furnace Road. After arriving, police found two people lying on the kitchen floor, according to the affidavit. The apartment's owner, who isn't identified, sustained multiple gunshot wounds. According to the affidavit, the second person, 'believed to be the suspect based on preliminary interviews,' was found with a gunshot wound to the head, which was 'consistent with being self inflicted.'

"The man who died about 12 hours after the shooting has been identified by police as Brian Wickliff, 47, of Harrisonburg. But police won't say whether they believe he or the wounded man, who police have not identified, was the shooter in the case. The wounded individual remains at the University of Virginia Medical Center in critical condition, according to the last update from police.

"The affidavit states that the home's front window was forcibly entered.

"In a search of the home, police seized several items, including shell casings and a bullet that was removed from a wall.

"During the search of the parking lot, police located a red Mitsubishi Eclipse, which was traced back to a resident at 95 Perry St. in Harrisonburg. Police believe that resident was the shooter, according to the affidavit."
