Chase Ends In Killer's Suicide


"GRAND ISLAND, NE — Grand Island Police have released more details about a murder-suicide that claimed the lives of two people in Grand Island Monday morning.

"Antonio G. Rodriguez, 33, and Margarita Rodriguez, 43, died Monday in what police are calling a domestic disturbance.

"A press release Tuesday from the Grand Island Police Department says police were sent to 212 N. Grace at 4:57 a.m. Monday on a domestic disturbance report, where they found Margarita Rodriguez in the entryway with gunshot wounds to her head and left leg.

"She was transported to Saint Francis Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 7:18 a.m.

"At approximately 7:42 a.m., Grand Island police officers began a pursuit of the suspect, Antonio Rodríguez, the estranged husband of the victim. The pursuit began at Potash and Diers Avenue and ended on Highway 281 between Highway 30 and the Old Highway 30 overpass.

"Antonio Rodriguez died of a single, self-inflicted gunshot wound. No other shots were fired.

"The Grand Island police department is continuing the investigation into the death of Margarita Rodriguez."
