Police Suspect Love Triangle In Death Of Estranged Pair


"MIAMI-DADE, FL — According to police, a man shot a woman and then shot himself in the head after a love triangle went wrong.

"At around 3 p.m. Tuesday, Miami-Dade Police responded to a shooting at 11388 West Flagler Street in Sweetwater, which forced authorities to shut down Coral Way between 112th and 110th Avenues.

"According to authorities, this may be a situation of a love triangle and jealousy. Police said the 28-year-old wife and mother was in the process of changing her locks at the home she once shared with her estranged husband when the husband showed up at the apartment and shot the woman several times in her chest. She was pronounced dead on the scene.

"Detectives said the gunman fled the scene and ended up in the area of 122nd Avenue and Bird Road and somehow encountered the man who he and family members believe his wife was having an affair with. The man is said to be a distant cousin of the woman, detectives said. According to police, there was then an altercation between the two men, an accident occurred and the husband shot the man.

"The man was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital. Officials said he is still alive but seriously injured.

"According to police, the estranged husband then got back into his car and took off. Then, at 109th and Coral Way, he shot himself in the head. He was then airlifted to the hospital where he later died.

"The couple's 5-year-old child was not present at the time of the altercation.

"Police continue to investigate."
