Injured Couple Drives To Police Department After Botched Murder/Suicide

"LOXLEY, AL — Loxley Police say an older couple attempted suicide Thursday morning because of financial troubles. Police say James Morrow, 70, and his wife, Anne, 65, left their home and drove to a nearby road to go through with the attempt.

"The couple drove to somewhere on Campbell Road near the intersection of County Road 68 in their Ford F150 truck. James told police he used a small caliber pistol to shot Anne in the back of the head and then turned the gun to his own head, firing it again.

"James then drove to the Loxley Police Department and contacted authorities.

"Lieutenant Doug Phillips says the couple was distressed, but surprisingly calm when they arrived.

"Loxley Police say James was Life-Flighted to the USA Medical Center. His wife was taken to USA Medical Center by ambulance.

"A note from the couple was found inside the couple's truck during the investigation."
