Unknown Incident Results In Murder/Suicide
"SALINA, UT — A man and a woman were found dead Wednesday in an apparent murder-suicide in Salina.
"Police were dispatched to 289 North 100 East Wednesday morning after receiving a report that a woman had been shot by her boyfriend. When they arrived at the house, they found the bodies of 39-year-old Tina Bates and 50-year-old Tracy Hill, both of Salina.
"Bates' 13-year-old son was in the house at the time of the incident. Salina police say the boy was confronted by Hill and escaped from him by punching him several times in the face. They say the boy then went over to a neighbor's home and called 911.
"It is unknown what provoked the incident at the home.
"Police say Tina Bates was found dead in the hallway of her home. Tracy Hill was also found dead with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
"Hill and Bates dated for several years and had broken up within the past two months. Their bodies were sent to the Medical Examiner's Office for autopsy.
"Neighbors say Bates worked at a local turkey factory and also has a daughter that recently left for college.
"Police say there have been no reports of any domestic violence in the past at the home."
