History Of Domestic Violence Ends With Shotgun Blasts

"OSWEGO, IL — A man shot and killed his former girlfriend in her Oswego home, then turned the shotgun on himself, police say.

"Officers were called to the home on 303 Fox Chase Drive North around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday after someone reported hearing shots and a woman screaming, according to Oswego Detective Rob Sherwood.

"Police found Daniel R. Kiefer, 39, of Montgomery, in an attached garage, he said. Brandi Jo Murphy, 38, was found in a doorway leading from the garage into the home.

"Both were pronounced dead on the scene.

"Three other adults and three children were in the home at the time, but no one else was injured, Sherwood said. Two of the children were Murphy's.

"Sherwood said Kiefer and Murphy had an `on-again, off-again relationship` with a history of domestic violence."
