Elderly Couple Found Dead In Hawaiian Retirement Community

"HONOLULU, HI — Honolulu police say an 81-year-old man and his 79-year-old wife died Sunday in an apparent murder-suicide in Hawaii Kai.

"According to police, family members and neighbors reported hearing gunshots at an Anakua Street residence shortly before 11 a.m. Investigators said the man shot his wife, and then himself.

"Authorities said the wife had been suffering from a long-term illness. Other family members did not comment.

"Homicide detectives are investigating the case, which has been classified as a murder-suicide."
