Violent End To A Long-Term Friendship
"INDIANAPOLIS, IN — Metropolitan Police were called to 10667 Courageous Drive, in the area of Geist Reservoir, around 3 a.m. Sunday morning for the report of a person shot.
"Officers arrived and found a male victim identified as Derek Tully, 50, of Indianapolis suffering from at least one gunshot wound inside the residence. He was pronounced deceased on the scene by EMS crews.
"A second victim identified as John Caffrey, 48, of Indianapolis, was found outside the home suffering from a single gunshot wound. He was located on the outside of the residence and was pronounced deceased on the scene by EMS crews.
"Investigators believe that the two victims have been mutual friends for a long period of time, and they may have been involved in an on-going dispute.
"Investigators preliminarily believe that John Caffrey entered the house of Derek Tully and shot him. John then exited the house and then apparently shot himself.
"The Marion County Crime Lab has recovered the weapon and no other injuries were reported."
