"Medical Emergency" Turns Out To Be Murder/Suicide
"ST PETER, MN — Officials with the St. Peter Police Department have confirmed the identities of a man and a woman killed Monday evening in an apparent murder/suicide.
"The medical examiner has identified the woman as Jacquelyn Marie Johnson, 48, of St. Peter. The man was identified as Joel Bruce Reineke, 53, of Kasota.
"On Monday at about 5:35 p.m., officers were dispatched to 601 S. Front St. in St. Peter for an unknown medical emergency, responding to a call made by a family member, according St. Peter Police Chief Matthew Peters.
"When police arrived, they discovered the bodies of Johnson and Reineke. It was apparent that the two had died from violent trauma, police said.
"A preliminary investigation into the deaths indicates that Johnson was shot by the Reineke before he turned the shotgun on himself, police said in a statement. Preliminary autopsy results confirm the deaths to have been a murder/suicide."
