Police Find Bodies & Baby During Welfare Check
"HAMMOND, LA — A 5-month-old baby was found alive in a home where a man and woman were found dead from a murder/suicide, authorities in Tangipahoa Parish said.
"The Sheriff's Office said evidence recovered revealed that Brandon Colona, 26, shot and killed his girlfriend Theresa Doby, 21, before turning the gun on himself.
"Deputies said they responded to a call of a welfare concern in the 47000 block of Brittani Court in Hammond about 11:45 a.m. Monday.
"Both Colona and Doby resided at the home, according to the Sheriff's Office.
"When deputies arrived at the scene, they said no one answered the door, but they did hear a baby in the home.
"Deputies said they entered the home through an unlocked door and found a 5-month-old baby.
"After searching the home, deputies said they found a white man and woman who were both dead by an apparent gunshot wound in a rear bedroom.
"The Sheriff’s Office contacted the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab to process scene for evidence and an explanation."
