Three Dead After Domestic Dispute

"LUBBOCK, TX — Three people are dead in what authorities are describing as a murder-suicide that stemmed from a domestic dispute.

"A man killed the mother of his child and another man early Sunday morning in the 1800 block of 114th Street.

"Lubbock County Sheriff’s deputies were asked to check the welfare of the woman after the shooter’s body was found at his mother’s home in the 4300 block of 42nd Street about 7:30 a.m., police said.

"The shooter’s body was found by a family member who called authorities.

"Investigators believe the man’s death was a suicide, but no suicide note was found, said sheriff’s office spokesman Lt. Bryan Taylor.

"Lubbock police responded to the residence on 42nd Street and asked deputies to conduct a welfare check because the pair’s infant was in the house on 42nd Street.

"Police determined the mother had custody of the child and they were unable to reach her by phone, Taylor said.

"The name of the shooter and the two victims have not been released, pending identification by the medical examiner’s office. The infant is in protective custody, Taylor said.

"Investigators said the shooter went to the woman’s house in the early morning hours as part of a domestic dispute. Taylor said he did not go to the woman’s home to pick up the infant.

"Investigators have an idea of what transpired and they think they have determined the relationship between the woman and the second man. Taylor said more concrete details about the incidents will be released this week.

"`We haven’t really reconstructed the crime yet,` Taylor said.

"The couple had a history of domestic violence, Taylor said."
