Ohio Strangulation/Shooting Leaves Two Dead

"WEST JEFFERSON, OH - West Jefferson police say a man meticulously and methodically planned every detail of a murder-suicide in what was apparently, until recently, a trouble-free relationship.

"Teddy Thompson, 50, used a belt to strangle his longtime girlfriend Mary Kington, 56, of Worthington late Saturday night in his West Jefferson apartment in Madison County, said Police Sgt. Terry Ward.

"Then, he carefully put her in bed, placed her hands across her chest and tucked her in under the covers. He lay down next to her and shot himself once in the head with a .38-caliber revolver.

"Authorities found the couple just after 10 p.m. Sunday after Kington's daughter called police and said she hadn't heard from her mother in more than a day.

"'People are saying this had been a pleasant relationship,' Ward said. 'Then recently, something happened and the mother told the daughter if she came up dead, Teddy Thompson did it.'

"Kington was a home health-care worker who cared for the elderly and had three children and a grandson.

"Thompson had been planning the deaths for at least two weeks, Ward said."

  2. I knew Ted from an online chat room. Everyone who ever spoke to him said that he had a great deal of integrity. Ted called me once or night, late at night, while he was doing his sons laundry, He sounded ( or tried to sound) so normal over the telephone. There were members of our group that had gone to meet him in his home town, and had taken pictures with him. Those same people were horrified beyond words when they discovered they had come into close physical proximity with a murderer, and had trusted him and treated him as if he were a good friend that everyone could rely on. Ted had everyone fooled, including a close personal friend of mine who had recently dated him. She was terribly hurt and confused when she discovered that her former boyfriend had committed a grisly, violent crime. Many of us were upset and couldn't sleep after we found out what happened in his apartment . It will be a miracle if I ever allow myself to trust another internet friend, ever again.

  3. I was about 15 when I met Ted he was my friends neighbor. I babysat for him as well as cleaned his apartment occasionally for extra money in the summer . My mother did not like him from the first time she met him and made me stop working for him because she felt something was off. He contacted me on December 5 asking me if I would come back and work for him and I told him I was not allowed. Two weeks later saw this on the news and it still keeps me up at night sometimes . Listen to your parents kids! I thought my mother was just being ridiculous, turns out she knew something I didn’t!!!
