Big Mac Attack
"MAPLE GROVE, MN - Maple Grove Police say a year-long, on-again, off-again relationship ended Sunday afternoon with an apparent murder-suicide.
"Police say a young woman was meeting her boyfriend at the McDonald's restaurant on Sycamore Lane N. in Maple Grove. Relatives tell police she was going to end their relationship.
"The boyfriend had a shotgun and fired two or three shots in the parking lot, striking the woman at least twice, says Capt. Tracy Stille of the Maple Grove Police Department.
"About a dozen people, including several teenagers, were inside the restaurant at the time.
"`We saw a girl come running up and she screamed something,` one teen [said]. `The guy drove up and got out of the car and shot her.`
"Witnesses say an employee and some officers performed CPR, but the woman died at the scene.
"The suspect drove away, but witnesses got a good look at his car and called 911. Within ten minutes, a Brooklyn Park police officer spotted that vehicle speeding on Interstate 694, near Zane Avenue. Police pulled over the car near the border of Brooklyn Center and Brooklyn Park.
"By the time officers approached the vehicle, the man inside was dead. "
