Uncivil Civilian Kills Army Wife

"EL PASO, TX - A 19-year-old soldier from Seattle was shot to death by her husband at a military base in Texas on Saturday.

"Authorities say the soldier's civilian husband walked into the Fort Bliss Post Exchange, shot his wife in the head and then turned the gun on himself.

"`Four shots ring out and you hear a thud in the back of the store, you hear a body hit the floor. And everyone stares at each other and there's mass panic,` said a military wife who asked to remain anonymous.

"She and customers dropped to the ground before running out to safety as military police went in.

"Private First Class Cassaundra Beckel died at the hospital 45 minutes later.

"The husband died Sunday morning."
