Wife Lured To House
"BOULDER, CO — The divorced father-of-two found dead in his north Boulder home last week apparently lured his ex-wife to the house to shoot her before killing himself, Boulder police said Monday.
"Robert Bryant Oakley, 39, of Boulder, killed Katelin Rose Oakley, 30, of Golden, with a 9 mm handgun before shooting himself in the head with a shotgun Wednesday at his 3100 23rd St. home, police spokeswoman Sarah Huntley said in a news release.
"`The evidence suggests that he lured his former wife to his home, planning to commit the crime,` the release said. `When officers searched the home, they found indications that he had made efforts to finalize his affairs.`
"Police are classifying the crime as a homicide-suicide, Huntley said.
"Officers arrived at the home shortly after 3 p.m. Wednesday, responding to a 911 call from the house in which no one spoke. They found Katelin Oakley `some distance` from the handgun, and Robert Oakley with the shotgun between his legs, Huntley said."
