Couple Had No Previous Domestic Violence Reports

"PIONEER, CA - The Amador County Sheriff's Department is investigating an apparent murder-suicide in the community of Pioneer Sunday afternoon.

"Undersheriff Jim Wegner said deputies responded to a 911 call placed from Holiday Lane at 12:17 p.m. that the caller heard a woman screaming and then gunshots from a neighbor's home.

"When deputies arrived, they found a car blocking Holiday Lane. Inside the car was Holly Heather Hayden, 52. She suffered multiple gunshots in the torso and was dead at the scene, Wegner said. It looked as if Hayden had been trying to drive away, detectives said.

"A witness told deputies right after the shooting, Hayden's husband, James Frederick Weber, was observed walking away from his wife's car and toward their home. The witness also reported seeing Weber on the home's rear deck and then hearing another gunshot.

"After observing the residence and property from the air and with electronic surveillance, Wegner said a SWAT entered the home and found Weber, 54, dead, with a gunshot wound.

"The sheriff's office had not received any domestic violence reports regarding the couple or from the residence, Wegner said."
