Indianapolis Jumper Had Strangled Wife

"INDIANAPOLIS, IN - A man who committed suicide atop a downtown parking garage Thursday had earlier strangled his estranged wife in their Hendricks County home, police said.

"The body of Mary Jane Frisby, 44, was found in a bedroom in the home of Dave Frisby, 58, at 6729 Eastland Road just after 6 p.m., said Hendricks County Sheriff's Department Lt. Jim Yetter.

"Yetter said a suicide note and recording found in Dave Frisby's car led them to the home. He said the couple was in the process of getting a divorce.

"`The couple had filed for divorce earlier this month. However, they were still living here together in the residence with two children,` Yetter said.

"Police said Dave Frisby fired six shots from the top floor of a parking garage near Meridian and Washington streets at about 3 p.m., before shooting himself and falling seven stories to the sidewalk below.

"Witnesses told police they saw the man fire two to three shots toward a nearby building that houses the Barnes and Thornburg law firm, where Mary Jane Frisby was a partner.

"`He turned, and it's like he looked directly at us and fired two shots,` said Anthony Prather, a lawyer who was in the office at the time. `He had this really weird look on his face. He did not look distraught to me. I really can't describe it. My secretary said he smiled at her.`

"On Dave Frisby's Facebook page, he posted a message condemning the law firm, apparently shortly before killing himself.

"`The bad lawyers at the Barnes and Thornburg law firm ... do not respect the institution of marriage and corrupted my wife Mary Jane (sex and drugs). Someone (maybe one of their good lawyers) please make them pay. Justice demands the truth out. It's a tragedy,` the statement read.

"Dave Fribsy, who was armed with two handguns, was pronounced dead at the scene. Businesses in the area were locked down and streets were closed immediately after the shooting."
