Deputies Answer Suicide Calls, Find Bodies Of Pair
"MOHAVE VALLEY, AZ — Two Mohave Valley residents are dead following a murder/suicide, sheriff’s officials said Tuesday.
"Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies and detectives responded to a shooting Monday evening, April 1. Dispatch advised that they received many calls stating that John Phillips had shot his wife and he planned to shoot himself, according to Trish Carter, MCSO spokeswoman.
"Approximately 8:41 p.m., deputies responded to a residence in the 1600 block of East Ironwood Drive. Upon arrival, deputies located two deceased subjects, inside the residence, identified as John Terry Phillips, 55, and Valerie Ann Corti-Phillips, 56, Carter said.
"John Phillips died of a possible gunshot wound to his head. It appears Valerie, his wife, died of several gunshot wounds to her head. The handgun was recovered at the scene. The investigation continues and autopsy results are pending, Carter said."
