Teen Wounded In Botched Murder/Suicide

"DELANO, CA — Police in Delano are investigating the attempted homicide of a 17-year-old boy and the suicide of a man that happened Thursday night.

"Delano police say there were notified about 6:30 p.m. of a verbal dispute in the 200 block of West 15th Avenue, a Delano Police Department news release said. They arrived to find the teen suffering from shotgun injuries. He was taken in critical condition to Kern Medical Center.

"Police also found a man from Fresno in the backyard of the residence with a single shotgun wound to his head. He died at the scene. His name hasn't been released.

"Investigators found that before the shooting, the estranged boyfriend and the mother of his children were in an argument outside the residence, the news release said. She went inside, and that's when the estranged boyfriend fired a shotgun into the residence, which struck the ex-girlfriend's 17-year-old nephew. Then the estranged boyfriend shot and killed himself."
