Father And Son Found Dead During Welfare Check
"OSCODA, MI — Oscoda Township Police said officers were sent to a residence on Monday for a welfare check after family members reported that they hadn't heard from a man for five days.
"Officers arrived at the home at 8205 A. Florida in Iosco County's Oscoda Township around 6:30 p.m. to check on 47-year-old Kenneth Ellis Neal.
"When police arrived, they discovered two suspected bullet holes in the upstairs window. Further investigation led officers to Neal's body. Initial examination revealed that Neal sustained a fatal gunshot wound.
"Officers then discovered Neal's son, Hunter Mark-Purdy Neal, 18, dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
"The Michigan State Police forensic lab out of Grayling was called in to help examine the scene.
"Oscoda Township Police said so far all signs point to a `murder/suicide` as the cause of deaths. Their investigation remains open pending autopsy and forensic results."
