2 Dead, 1 Injured After Card Game Argument

"DUNDALK, MD — A Maryland man shot and wounded his 25-year-old daughter before killing his wife and turning the gun on himself during a weekend card game at the family’s home early Saturday, police said.

"The violence erupted after James Burnham, 51, and his wife, 47-year-old Terri Ann Burnham, walked away from a card game inside their Dundalk home and went to an upstairs room where they began to argue about 3:30 a.m., police [said].

"Their daughter, Shannon Nicklas, went to check on her parents after some people heard a commotion, cops said.

"Suddenly, a gun shot was heard and Nicklas came running downstairs bleeding from a wound to her upper body, police said.

"The group scurried from the Kavanagh Road home in the Baltimore suburbs before another round was fired, cops said.

"Emergency workers soon responded and took the wounded Nicklas to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where she was expected to survive."
