Pair Survives Attempted Double Murder/Suicide
"BLANCHARD, PA — State police at Rockview are investigating an attempted homicide that led to a suspect committing suicide early Friday in Liberty Township.
"Police said the incident happened sometime late Thursday or early Friday at a private residence on 112 Primrose Lane, part of a mobile home park just outside of Blanchard.
"A 33-year-old York woman and a 30-year-old Howard man were identified as victims, though police did not release their names. Police said Friday evening that one of the victims suffered minor injuries and that the other was uninjured.
"According to a person familiar with the case, the suspect, 32-year-old Howard resident John E. Kelly Jr., was found dead after a search of the area. Police said he committed suicide.
"Centre County Coroner Scott Sayers said the man died as a result of a self-inflicted gunshot.
"Sayers said an official ruling on the cause and manner of death are pending the results of an autopsy scheduled for Saturday.
"He said the man was found in a field near the home where police said the attempted homicide occurred.
"The residence is located in a mobile home community that overlooks Foster Joseph Sayers Dam.
"Neighbors said they heard a commotion at the residence early Friday morning, but did not report hearing gunshots.
"They said the woman who lives in the home mostly keeps to herself, as do many in the small mobile home community, and that they did not know her."
