Medical Condition May Have Prompted Shooting
"HEMET, CA — A 91-year-old man shot to death his elderly wife and then committed suicide in their Hemet home, police say.
"`I believe the wife had some type of medical issue,` Lt. Duane Wisehart said Thursday, Aug. 1. `I think that may have precipitated it.`
"The violence was discovered Wednesday afternoon along the 2500 block of Beech Tree Street.
"Sam Miller died of a self-inflicted gunshot, coroner’s officials said in a written statement.
His wife—88-year-old Janice Miller—also had been shot.
"Police went to the house after a family member reported that the couple hadn’t been heard from in about two days, Wisehart said.
"It’s unclear exactly when the shootings happened."
