"Generous" Couple DEAD In Oregon

"Scappoose, OR - A man and woman whose bodies were found Monday near Scappoose died of an apparent murder-suicide, the Columbia County Sheriff's Office said.

"Sheriff Jeff Dickerson said preliminary results from an autopsy today indicate Deric James Fox, 41, fatally shot his wife, Carolyn Ann LeBlanc, 61, then himself Monday morning in their home off U.S. 30 near Northwest St. Helens Road.

"Neighbors said LeBlanc was diagnosed recently with terminal brain cancer. They described Fox and LeBlanc as a generous couple who were quick to befriend a neighbor or provide discounted or free necklaces and earrings from LeBlanc's jewelry design business.

"`They were very much in love even with the big age difference,` said Kristine Ramsdell, 41, a neighbor. The couple married 23 years ago, she said."
