Family Dead For Several Days
"ORANGE, CA – The bodies of a couple in their 40s and their little boy were found by police Tuesday afternoon inside their Orange apartment, the result of an apparent murder-suicide.
"Each had been shot once in the head.
"The apartment manager called police after she hadn't seen the 44-year-old man, his 42-year-old girlfriend or their son, believed to be between 2 and 3, for several days.
Their cars had not moved, their phone went unanswered and she was unaware of any vacation plans the family had, said Sgt. Dan Adams of the Orange Police Department.
"Around 4 p.m., officers walked into the two-bedroom apartment in the 1900 block of East Van Owen Avenue to find the boy dead in a kitchen chair, Adams said. The 42-year-old woman was found dead on a bed in one of the bedrooms. Her 44-year-old boyfriend was found dead on a bed in another bedroom, Adams said.
"A suicide note was found in the family's apartment, and authorities believe the man shot and killed his son and girlfriend before shooting himself. A small-caliber gun thought to have been the murder weapon was found in the apartment. The family may have been dead for several days, Adams said.
"The couple lived in the apartment since September 2006, Adams said."
