"They Seemed Like They Had It All"

"PHILADELPHIA, PA — A teenager found his grandparents just where he might expect to find them Wednesday on a balmy, summer morning - grandma was in the kitchen and grandpa in the shed, according to police.

"But the state in which he found them is something no one should ever have to see.

"He found both dead from gunshot wounds to the head in what police said was a murder-suicide.

"Authorities were called to the elderly couple's house on 9540 Northeast Avenue near Grant, in the city's Bustleton section, around 10:37 a.m., according to police.

"Homicide Sgt. Bob Wilkins said that the teen was sent to the house by his mother after his grandparents did not return phone messages left for them by family members Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.

"Police said that the husband shot his wife and then himself.

"Wilkins said that police have not yet discovered any medical or financial issues that may have precipitated the shootings.

"A neighbor, who asked that her name be withheld, said through tears that she could think of no reason for what occurred on the quiet street of well-manicured lawns.

"She said that the couple didn't appear to have any major medical or financial issues, and that they seemed to make it a point to get out and be social.

"`They were really nice, churchgoing, normal people,` she said. `This is a guy who, on recycling day, brings your empty canister back to your house.`

"She said that Michael Cabry could often be seen mowing his and Judith Cabry was often in the rear yard, reading a book.

"`You work all your life and you expect to retire and just be happy,` she said. `They seemed like they had each other. They seemed like they had it all.`"
