Wife, Kids Escape Through Front Window
"HAYES, VA — Gloucester County deputies responded to the scene of a what they're calling a murder, suicide in the 1800 block of Gloucester Road in Hayes, Virginia Sunday.
"It was around 2 p.m. when officials say they got the initial call from a woman claiming her estranged husband, Keith Philip Ketch, had just shot her boyfriend. The woman was inside the home with four children when the victim was shot in the backyard, according to officials.
"A second call came in from a neighbor stating the suspect had just entered the home after shooting the victim in the backyard.
"Upon arrival, deputies were told the suspect had fled out the back door of the residence where another gunshot was heard. That's when deputies told the homeowner and children to break out a front window and escape.
"Deputies cleared the backyard and determined the second gunshot heard was the suspect taking his own life, right next to the where the initial victim was shot.
"Both individuals were pronounced dead on the scene by Medics with Abingdon Fire and Rescue who were staged nearby."
