Father And Daughter Dead In Murder/Suicide

"JESUP, GA — Two Sunday night shooting deaths in Jesup are thought to have resulted when a man shot his adult daughter then himself, investigators said.

"Officers responding to a 911 call just after 7 p.m. Sunday found Clarissa Jackson, 27, at a neighbor’s house with multiple gunshot wounds, Jesup Police Chief Glenn Takaki said.

"Jackson lived with her father, Randy Roberson, 60, at 256 Gilford Street and had run next door after she was shot, Takaki said today.

"`She told them who shot her and they called for help,` said Mike McDaniel, special agent in charge of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Kingsland office, which is investigating the deaths.

"Takaki said a medical evacuation helicopter had lifted off with Jackson bound for a Savannah trauma center, `but for some reason, they diverted to Wayne Memorial Hospital,` he said.

"A short time later, Jackson was pronounced dead the Jesup hospital, he said.

"Meanwhile, officers believed that Roberson was still inside his residence and there was information that he was armed, Takaki said.

"The Jesup police and Wayne County Sheriff’s Office secured the house until the Georgia State Patrol SWAT team arrived and took over the scene, Takaki said.

"`Sometime after 1 a.m., they went in and found him deceased,` Takaki said.

"There was no one else in the house, he said.

"Although he declined to speculate on a motive, McDaniel said police had responded a number of times to domestic disturbances at Roberson’s house."
