Police Chase Ends In Shooter's Suicide
"SHREVEPORT, LA — A Shreveport man shot his ex-girlfriend late Monday, then led police on a chase through several parishes before killing himself.
"It began about 10 p.m. Monday in the 1300 block of Lawhon Street in the Caddo Heights neighborhood. That's where police found 33-year-old Lakeisha Robinson suffering from a single gunshot wound to the torso, according to reports.
"Police say she was accosted at her home by 46-year-old O.B. Mitchell Jr., who reportedly was trying to break into her residence. She fled; he chased her down and shot her before fleeing in a vehicle, police said.
"Robinson ran to a neighbor's house and called police. She was taken to LSU Hospital in Shreveport, where she remains this morning. Her two children were home at the time but were not injured, police said.
"Shreveport police notified other area law enforcement agencies to be on the lookout for Mitchell. A short time later, authorities spotted his vehicle traveling south on Interstate 49.
"Following a pursuit, Mitchell shot himself and later was pronounced dead, according to police reports. Louisiana state troopers are investigating."
