Female Shooter Shakes Quiet Neighborhood

"Suffolk, VA - Suffolk police are calling a weekend shooting that took the lives of a man and a woman in the quiet Riverview neighborhood a murder-suicide.

"Jeanette Brabrand, 57, and Paul Bamberg, 53, were both found dead inside the home they shared in the 600 block of N. Broad Street Saturday evening. Both suffered from gunshot wounds.

"Police believe that Brabrand shot and killed Bamberg before turning the gun on herself, according to Suffolk spokeswoman Debbie George. Bamberg was found in the study at the home, and Brabrand’s body was in the bedroom when police arrived.

"Police were called to the home at about 6:30 p.m. Saturday by a woman who said she believed there was a problem at the residence. George said Saturday that the woman had given specific reasons as to why she thought there was a problem, but the spokeswoman declined to say what those reason were.

"There was no sign of forced entry at the home when police arrived. Brabrand had last been seen at 11 a.m. that day."
