"San Diego, CA - The call to San Diego Police came from a 50-year-old woman claiming her husband was threatening to kill her and himself. "When they arrived to the house around 9 a. m., in the 6400-block of Lockford Avenue, they received no response. San Diego Police Homicide Capt. Jim Collins said they set up a perimeter and pushed the front door in. They were greeted by the 51-year-old husband who threatened them with a 10-inch knife and shoved the door closed.
"Collins said officers went to the back of the house where they broke windows and made noise to lure the man away from the front door. They then kicked the front door, entered and the man once again came at them with the knife. A police dog was involved in the altercation and was stabbed in the neck, rupturing a carotid artery. He was taken to a nearby emergency veterinary clinic and was reported to be in stable condition.
"When the man came at the officers the second time, two officers fired rounds and killed him."
