Grisly Discovery In Suspicious Vehicle
"BLOOMINGTON, IN – The deaths of two LeRoy boys and their father, missing since March 8, are being treated as murders and a suicide, according to the McLean County sheriff's office.
"Duncan Connolly, 9, and Jack Connolly, 7, were found dead in Putnam County about 5 p.m. Sunday. The sheriff's office said the boys' father, Michael, was also found dead.
"`Many people are overwhelmed with sadness and pain,` said McLean County Sheriff Mike Emery. `Friends and classmates of Jack and Duncan are in shock and disbelief that such a horrible crime could have been committed.`
"Authorities issued an Amber Alert for the boys after their father failed to return them after a custody visit.
"Emery said in a press release that Putnam County deputies were sent to investigate a suspicious vehicle in a remote area of the county about 5 p.m. Sunday. They found that the vehicle belonged to Michael Connolly and that he was a fugitive in the parental abduction investigation in McLean County.
"Emery said he and members of the Connolly Task Force arrived in Putnam Couinty about 6 p.m. The bodies of two young boys matching the descriptions of Jack and Duncan were found in the back seat of the vehicle, he said. A body matching that of Michael Connolly was found about 60 feet west of the vehicle."
