Knife-Weilding Boyfriend Botches Murder, Suicide

"DOVER, WI - A Chicago man is charged with stabbing his Wisconsin girlfriend and himself in a failed murder-suicide attempt.

"Twenty-one year old Titus A. Harper was charged Monday with attempted first-degree intentional homicide.

"Prosecutors say Harper was arguing with his girlfriend Friday in her Town of Dover home.

"The 23-year-old girlfriend tells investigators he stabbed her in the back with a kitchen knife, then cut his own throat so the couple could `die together.`

"She says she spent an hour begging her to let him call 911, but he unplugged all the phones.

"She says she was able to escape and drive to a friend's home.

"Authorities found an 8-month-old unhurt in the home."
