"NEODESHA, KS — A southeast Kansas undersheriff says he's glad no one else was hurt when a homicide suspect shot and killed himself at a cemetery."Authorities said 40-year-old Roger Counsil of Neodesha died of the self-inflicted gunshot wound around 1 a.m. Monday, following a 10-hour standoff with law enforcement.
"The Independence Daily Reporter says Counsil drove to the Grandview Cemetery in Wilson County on Sunday afternoon.
"Counsil was suspected in the fatal shooting of his ex-wife's boyfriend, 54-year-old Clayton Wright, near Galesburg in neighboring Neosho County earlier Sunday.
"Wilson County Undersheriff Bob Green says he spent about 10 hours at the cemetery trying to coax Counsil out of his vehicle. Green says officers from three counties were present when Counsil shot himself."
