Two Dead In Rural California

"PASO ROBLES, CA - A man and a woman are confirmed dead as the Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate what might have been a murder and suicide this morning in a rural area north of Paso Robles.

"Someone inside the home on Rock Ridge Lane reported the incident to authorities just before 10 a.m., Sheriff’s Department spokesman Rob Bryn said. Deputies found one person dead inside the home, while a second was taken to Twin Cities Community Hospital in Templeton. That person was dead on arrival, Bryn said.

"`It appears to be a murder-suicide, but we need to investigate with witnesses further to determine that.` Bryn said.

"Both people suffered gunshot wounds, Bryn said, but he wouldn't disclose who shot whom. The names and ages of the deceased could be disclosed later this afternoon, he added, pending notification of their next of kin.

"Bryn said that there may have been other people in the home, but their status or their potential role in the incident has yet to be confirmed.

"Neighbors in the countryside community of large homes on large lots described the residents of the house as a man in his 70s and a woman in her 60s.

"They described the man as being strongly devoted to his once vibrant and socially active wife, caring for her around the clock after she started suffering from dementia."
