Rude Awakening

"TYLER, TX - Smith County Sheriff's department is... on the scene of what they believe to be a murder suicide in west Tyler. Lt. Tony Dana say the 911 call arrived shortly after eight this evening from a close friend of the murder victim who discovered both bodies inside the suspected shooter's home at 10229 W. Lakeshore Drive.

"Officials at the scene say the two bodies found inside were those of a man and his ex-wife who had recently divorced. They say around 6:30 p.m. the ex-wife was driven by a close friend to the Lakeshore Drive home to drop off an item for her children, who were staying there for Father's Day. The friend remained inside the vehicle and soon fell asleep after the ex-wife went into the home. Authorities say when the friend awoke shortly after eight p.m. she entered the home and found the couple dead in a wing of the home.

"Investigators say there were no apparent signs of struggle and the only gun present near the bodies was a handgun belonging to the homeowner found dead inside. Lt. Tony Dana would not confirm the identity of the deceased, but according to neighbors and the Smith County Appraisal District website, the home at 10229 W. Lakeshore Drive is that of Tyler attorney Thomas Blow.

"Both bodies have been taken to Southeast Forensics for pending autopsies to confirm the apparent cause of death. Authorities add the homeowner's two sons are safe and in the custody of family."
