"CLEARWATER, FL — A man shot and killed his wife in the garage of their Countryside home, then fatally shot himself early Monday morning, according to Clearwater police.

"The couple's adult son found his parents after hearing gunshots.

"The son—police did not give his name—called police at 6:44 a.m. to report the shooting at 2532 Sweetgum Way, in the upscale Countryside area of Clearwater.

"Robert Polukoff, 48, shot his wife Irene Polukoff, 49, several times before turning the gun on himself, according to a preliminary investigation by Clearwater police.

"The couple was in the midst of a divorce, and police had been called to the house five times since last July. However, according to Clearwater police, there was no previous history of physical violence between the husband and wife."
