Nosy Neighbors Break Window To Gawk At Corpses
"Montreal, Canada - A couple has been found dead in Pierrefonds/Roxboro Borough in what police believe was a murder-suicide. The bodies were found in a split-level home on a leafy street at 4980 Orléans St. near Gouin Blvd. at 10:30 Monday morning, Montreal police Constable Daniel Lacoursière said.
"The bodies are those of a man, 68, and a woman, age 59 or 60, he said.
"Police went to the home after calls by relatives. The relatives were worried because they had not heard from the couple in some time, Lacoursière said. Police entered the home and discovered the bodies.
"`I'm very shocked. This is completely unexpected. I saw them all the time walking my dog,` neighbour Monique Sylvestre said. `I know (the man) wasn't well. I don't know what else to say. This is going to stay with us for a long time.`
"Neighbour Guy Bricault, who has lived on the street for 46 years, said the couple were supposed to have breakfast with friends.
"When they didn’t show up and three phone calls went unanswered, neighbours contacted a relative who came to the house, Bricault said.
"The neighbours tried to look through the windows, but the drapes were closed, he said.
"They didn’t have a key so they called police to advise them that they were going to break a window to get into the house, Bricault said.
"The neighbours broke the window and waited for police, he said.
"When police went in they discovered a woman in a chair in the basement and a man in the garage with a bullet wound through his forehead, Bricault said."
