Three Shots, Two Dead
"HAMMOND, IL - A local man and woman are dead in what police call a murder-suicide.
"Hammond police spokesman Lt. Richard Hoyda, said the two were found at their residence in the 6900 block of Chesapeake Place at 3:39 p.m. Thursday by the woman's sister.
"The Lake County Coroner's Office identified the woman as Terra L. Haselberger, 22, and the man as Jeremy S. Fields, 31.
"Hoyda said it appears that the Fields shot himself in the mouth and had an exit wound in the back of the head. Haselberger was shot twice, in the neck and face, Hoyda said.
"It appears that Fields shot Haselberger, he said. A handgun was found by the bodies.
"Hoyda said that Haselberger had left her work around 10:45 a.m. Thursday and didn't return. Her sister went looking for her after she didn't return to work.
"`The victim's sister, who also lives at this address, had come home to investigate why her sister did not report back to work,` Hoyda said.
"Police had been called to the home two times in January, once for a family disturbance and once for a trespassing."
