Couple Found Dead In Assited Living Condo

"MERIDIAN, ID - Meridian Police are investigating what appears to be a murder-suicide.

"Around 10:40 a.m. patrol officers responded to Spring Creek Manor on East Calderwood in Meridian for a welfare check.

"Deputy Chief Tracy Basterrechea says officers went to the home after getting a call from concerned relatives who had not heard from the elderly couple for the past few days.

"Officers found a car parked in the driveway and knocked on the door. After getting no answer they went inside and found a 75-year-old woman and her 91-year-old husband dead in the bedroom.

"Both had gunshots wounds and investigators say the evidence is the man shot the woman with a handgun and then turned the gun on himself. It appears the woman was awake when she was shot and there was some kind of struggle prior to the shooting.

"The bodies may have been there for a couple of days.

"Basterrechea says relatives told police that the couple had been showing signs of erratic behavior lately.

"Spring Creek Manor is assisted living community. The couple lived in one of its condominiums.

"Police are now checking up on when the man bought the gun. They are not releasing the names of the victims at this time."

  1. That dont't sound right to me. If the family knew of the behavior they should've ask them is everything o.k with the couple and checked on them from time to time or let other family and friends know what was going on so they could check on the couple. Plus they should have made them a doctor appointment to let the doctor know about the behavior because older people mental status change just like their health. Something is not just right.
