Dead Couple Was Having Marital Problems
"NEW RINGGOLD, PA - A New Ringgold woman shot her husband to death at their home and then killed herself, police said today. The incident appears to have happened Thursday afternoon.
"Randolph W. Arndt II, 44, and Cindy L. Arndt, 50, of 416 N. Keim St., were having marital problems, state police at Frackville said.
"Randolph Arndt died of a .44 caliber bullet wound to the chest, an autopsy determined today. Forensic pathologist Dr. Richard Bindie conducted the autopsy at Schuylkill Medical Center in Pottsville.
"An autopsy on Cindy Arndt is scheduled at the medical center on Saturday. Except to say she was shot, police have not released details on how she took her own life.
"The bullet that killed Randolph Arndt was from a handgun that was kept in the house, police said.
"A family member found the couple dead in their home around 6:10 p.m. Thursday and immediately called 911, police said. The state police Major Crimes Team from Troop L and the Forensic Services Unit from Reading were activated to assist troopers from the Frackville barracks.
"Police said no one else was home when the shooting occurred."
