Death Under The Covers

"CHICAGO, IL - Chicago police today were investigating an apparent murder-suicide at a South Side residence, police said.

"The bodies of the a man, in his early 60s, and a woman, in her 50s, were found in a bedroom with gunshot wounds at the woman's residence in the 7600 block of South Prairie Avenue.

"The bodies were found under the covers of a bed, police said. A gun was confiscated from the scene.

"Police responded to the residence some time this afternoon after family members of the woman requested they go check on her, since relatives hadn't heard from her in a few days, police said. Chicago Fire Department personnel arrived and knocked down the door of the residence.

"Preliminary indications show that the man shot and killed the woman before shooting and killing himself. The relationship between the two was not immediately clear.

"The Cook County medical examiner's office confirmed that two bodies were found at the residence, but couldn't provide further information."
