"LAKE JACKSON, TX - A vehicle chase involving police and state troopers ends with the suspect dying from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Lake Jackson police also learned that the man had fatally shot his ex-wife in addition to shooting that woman's daughter.

"Officers arrived at approximately 8:45 p.m. Wednesday to a house on Post Oak Street after learning of gunshots fired.

"When the officers first arrived, they saw a vehicle driven away from the house and tried to stop it, but a chase took place instead.

"The chase moved onto State Highway 288 where state troopers used spike strips to stop the vehicle, which crashed. Police say when the vehicle crashed, the driver shot himself and died in the vehicle.

"The man who shot himself allegedly waited for his ex-wife to walk outside of her house and shot her in the yard where she died. Her teen daughter was also shot taken by Life Flight medical helicopter to Memorial Hermann Hospital in serious but stable condition.

"Investigators say 2-year-old and 12-year-old boy were inside the house when the shooting took place, but were not hurt. The two boys are now in CPS custody."
