Police: "Everything Was Fine" In Prior Call

"LAWSON, MO - The investigation continues into a murder-suicide at a home in the 500 block of Country Drive Wednesday night.

"Officers were called to the home at 10 p.m. Police said when officers arrived they found Dale Banning, 46, described as the father-in-law of shooter, in the street. He had been shot twice, and was yelling for help. Neighbors said they heard him say, `My his son-in-law shot me, call 911 and take care of my grandchild.`

"Banning was taken by air ambulance to a hospital. He is in stable condition. Banning's wife was at work when the shooting happened.

"Police went into the house not knowing if the shooter was still there. An officer brought out an infant who was unharmed. Police said they found two bodies inside. Investigators said it appears that the husband, Alex C. Caton, 23, shot his wife,
Michelle, 21, his father-in-law and then himself.

"Police said they had responded to the home earlier in the evening Wednesday on a call about a custody dispute, but authorities said everything was fine when they left.
Police said Michelle Caton and her baby had been staying with her parents. Police said Alex Caton was in the Army and neighbors said he had returned from serving in Iraq within the last year."
