"The two people were found at about 3:50 p.m. inside a home in the 30200 block of 26th Place South, near Steel Lake.

"Federal Way Police say a friend called to do a welfare check on the pair.
When police arrived, they forced their way into the home and found the woman dead and the man with a gunshot wound. It's believed to be life-threatening. He is being transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

"Police say they also recovered a gun from the residence.

"It's not immediately known what their relationship is, although police say their ages are about 20 years apart. At least one of them is believed to be a resident of the home.

"Police say it's too early to say whether this was an attempted murder-suicide, but there is no suspect at large."
