Dad Wrecks Car After Shooting Daughter, Self

"READING, OH — Police say an 18-year-old girl is dead and her father is not expected to survive after what may have been a murder-suicide attempt in Reading this afternoon.

"Cincinnati Police now say a 38 year old man shot and killed his daughter not long after pulling out of the family's driveway along Reading Road north of Galbraith around 2 p.m. Thursday. Witnesses say they saw the 18 year old girl stumble out of the car. They heard another shot, and then the car lurched forward and traveled about half a block before smashing head-on into a retaining wall.

"Detectives believe the father shot himself in the head before crashing. The father was taken to the hospital but is not expected to live. Doctors say he is on life support and awaiting surgery to donate his organs.

"Police have not released the names of the father and daughter.

"Reading Road was closed for several hours while police collected evidence."
