SWAT Team Finds Dead Couple
"SEATTLE, WA — Seattle police found a man and a woman dead inside a home that officers surrounded after responding to reports of a shooting in West Seattle on Wednesday morning, Seattle Police Department spokesman Mark Jamieson said.
"Police said both bodies had gunshot wounds. Officers are investigating the deaths as murder-suicide.
"According to Jamieson, a man in a home on 50th Avenue Southwest near Southwest Waite Street called 911 at 3:15 a.m., said he had shot his wife, and then hung up the phone. A SWAT team responded at 5 a.m.
"Neighbor Steve McClure said he was awoken by a megaphone and then police asking for access to his upstairs.
"`(It was) surreal having snipers show up at your door,` said McClure.
"McClure said didn't hear any gunshots but heard police shouting for his neighbor, Harvey Spicer over a megaphone.
"`They said, 'You need to come out with your hands up. We need to know your wife and you are OK,'` said McClure.
"Officers attempted to contact Spicer for hours, but no one answered.
"Police entered the home about 7 a.m. to find Spicer and his wife dead."
