Investigators Await Autopsy Results
"WINCHESTER, VA — Deputies were called out Saturday morning to investigate the deaths of two people from gunshot wounds.
"According to the Capt. John Heflin of the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the call by a concerned family member at 451 Winding Hill Road around 11:45 a.m.
"There they found two victims, Michael Cross, 51 and his wife Susan Cross, 46 already dead at the scene.
"Heflin said the couple lives at this address, which is off Frog Hollow Road near Mill Creek and just shy of the West Virginia border.
"Although the call came over from Frederick County dispatch as a `possible murder-suicide` Heflin said that they would not know the cause of death until the autopsy was concluded next week.
"Heflin did say that they do not think that `anyone else was involved` at this time.
"He said the evidence collected at the crime scene will be sent to the new lab at the Virginia Department of Forensic Science and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Prince William County outside of Manassas.
"`We probably will not know anything for about 8-12 weeks,` Heflin said. `It takes a while, all evidence gets sent there now, instead of Fairfax.`"
